Grime's current floodtide of creativity is one of British music's most oft-dissected areas.
UK hip-hop, though, isn't about to be left behind. Sometimes over-shadowed by its brash cousin, UK hip-hop is busy surging into fresh ground, with a host of new voices spreading the word.
Voices like ThisIsDA. Debut EP 'Base Off Black' marked the emergence of a brave young artist, one who wasn't afraid to take risks.
New EP '21 & Done' continues this path. Production comes from a host of guests, including beats from Eyedress, Spacedtime, Jakuta, CoryaYo, and Austrian team Mono:Massive & Philanthrope.
The material is honest and frank, introverted while still continually seeking out new ways to communicate. ThisIsDA explains “this EP is a confessional piece of work that took a lot out of me – emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The EP took me down a path of scrutiny and self-inquisition as I documented my thoughts on just about everything that occurred during my 21st year on this earth. It’s a sonic self-portrait”.
