Soul music is universal, but an incredibly tough thing to get right.

Leon Bridges seems to manage this effortlessly. The Texan artist released a pair of tracks online at the tail end of 2014, with 'Coming Home' and 'Better Man' rightfully earning comparisons to Sam Cooke's gilded delivery.

Produced by White Denim's Austin Jenkins and Josh Block, the tracks demonstrated an artist who was brave enough to challenge his influences which fully respecting their impact.

New cut 'Lisa Sawyer' is a beautiful piece of work. Indebted to doo wop, the gentle arrangement – breathy backing vocals, that stunning saxophone line – provides a feather-soft bed for Leon Bridges' silken delivery.
