Strong movements are being made at Dr. Martens this August, with a new Oxford Street store, the latest #standforsomething campaign launch and the release of a comprehensive brand history title, all occurring within weeks of one another.
“When people come to London, they want to go home with something that captures the city and is idiosyncratic to the UK,” offers the brand’s Global Marketing Director, Simon Jobson of the new IRL space. “Our Oxford Street store will bring this history and atmosphere to a global audience.”
It’s this iconic status that similarly informs both the AW15 campaign and Martin Roach’s book, ‘Dr Martens: A History of Rebellious Self-Expression’. As Stephen Bent told Clash earlier this year, “You can be yourself in a pair of Dr. Martens, whatever your surroundings.”
Likewise yourself can be anyone, as both the assortment of bands featured in Roach’s title and the new James Pearson Howes shot campaign proves; from Suede to Madness, DJ Siobhan Bell to Buffalo stylist Barry Kamen, the DM’s message is fully inclusive.
